As teachers, we are powerful role models for our students. they will learn to be personally inviting with others and build strong relationships by watching the way we are personally inviting and build strong relationships with others in the school and with them.

Welcoming Schools Homepage The international alliance for invitational education works to create and sustain positive school climates. it seeks to enrich the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual lives of people in schools. This book describes in detail the conceptual basis for invitational education as well as how it has been practiced in a variety of schools. the foundations of invitational education included a democratic ethos, the perceptual tradition and self concept theory. Invitational theory, in a nutshell, simply proposes that if one makes the school ambience inviting for both teachers and pupils, the enormous potential of both can be maximized and, in turn, problems of low performance and disruptive behavior can be minimized. Through the school climate, school leaders must effectively communicate to stakeholders the difference between a steady, sustained approach compared to resistance or unwillingness to change.
