Introduction
The Tyrannosaurus Rex, often simply called T-Rex, is arguably the most famous dinosaur. Its massive size, powerful jaws, and fearsome reputation have captivated imaginations for generations.
Anatomy and Size
T-Rex could grow up to 40 feet long and weigh between 6 and 9 tons. Its massive skull housed powerful jaws filled with serrated teeth, perfect for crushing bones. Despite its size, its arms were surprisingly small.
Diet and Behavior
Scientists debate whether T-Rex was primarily a predator or a scavenger. Evidence suggests it was likely both, actively hunting prey and scavenging carcasses when available.
Extinction
T-Rex, like all non-avian dinosaurs, went extinct about 66 million years ago during the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event, likely caused by an asteroid impact.
